TD Food Court – Koya Japan

I’m not one for food courts. However, I was conducting an investigation during my lunch hour. I was on a mission to find my left snow boot that I lost the previous night. I emailed Calgary Transit to see if anyone found my boot. I also went back  to Hy’s Steakhouse, the last place I saw both my boots.

I’m sad to say the hostess didn’t find anything in the lost and found room. Dejected, I was too tired to walk to Chinatown for a bowl of noodles. Also, without my warm winter boots, I didn’t want to walk anywhere in the freezing cold. I remembered reading Miso_Hangry’s post on Zomato about the beef brisket at Koya Japan, which was upstairs in the food court.

I ordered the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup ($8.39). The cashier asked if I wanted it spicy. I said yes, so she added an additional 50 cents to my bill. I told her I changed my mind and I didn’t want my soup spicy. I have to save where I can to buy my new winter boots! She didn’t even blink an eye and removed the additional charge. I bet she is use to serving cheapies like me at the mall. Note cilantro haters, that you have to request NO cilantro. Even though I asked for no cilantro, I still got a couple of pieces.

You know what? For $8.81 (with GST), the beef brisket noodle soup was pretty good. My plastic bowl was filled with a generous heaping of slippery noodles and sprouts. The broth was piping hot, though a little too salty. The brisket was tasty and I liked the addition of daikon, carrots, and onions.
